CRARY, ND (June 4) – The NOSA Sprints were back in action Saturday night with their second appearance of the season at Devils Lake Speedway. The three heat race wins went to Cory Mack, Austin Pierce and Wade Nygaard to start the night. The 25-lap, 19-car main event lined up with Casey Mack and Bob Martin on the front row. Mack took the lead on the initial start, but the yellow was quick to follow as something locked up on the #26 machine of Blake Egeland causing him to slow. Jordan Graham had nowhere to go and piled into the back of Egeland, ending both of their nights. By Mike Spieker
CRARY, ND (June 4) – Farmers Union Oil presented the NOSA Sprint Car special and Profession Dirt Series Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway. WISSOTA PolyDome Dirt Track Series wins went to Austin Hunter and Travis Robertson, while Casey Mack and Colten Laber won the Sprint Car and Pure Stock events, respectively. The Midwest Modifieds were 20 cars strong for their 20-lap feature. Jeremy Lizakowski and Randy Thompson led the field to the green with Thompson taking the point from the outside. Lizakowski came charging back and took the lead on the second circuit and held the position until lap five. That’s when Winnipeg, Manitoba driver Austin Hunter grabbed the top spot as he maneuvered past Lizakowski on a restart. Ninth place starter, Ryan Schroeder, gave Hunter a run for his money in the second half of the feature, but Hunter held on to take the win by two car lengths of Schroeder. Eric Haugland recovered from a flat left rear tire to finish third and was followed by Jess Brekke and Jamie Dietzler, who also rebounded nicely after accruing heavy front end damage from an early race incident. Travis Robertson parked his IRET Properties #10R WISSOTA Street Stock in victory lane after starting back in eighth. Robertson quickly charged through the field and momentarily took the lead on lap four with a slide job on Eric Harpole. The move actually cost Robertson a couple spots as he lost his momentum and was relegated back to third. At the midpoint of the race, the top three broke away from the rest of the pack as Harpole led Casey Stangeland and Robertson. A late race restart bunched the field back up and that’s where Robertson made his move. After getting by Stangeland, he went after the #84 of Harpole, took the lead with four laps to go, and went on to take the win. With the victory, Robertson extended his streak of consecutive top three finishes to seven races. Casey Mack led all 25 laps of the NOSA Sprint Car feature, but was pressured by Nick Omdahl for the entirety of the event. The win was Mack’s first of the season and now sits second in the NOSA points behind Wade Nygaard. Colten Laber won the Pure Stock feature after being challenged by Jaden Varnson on the final lap.
